About

The prevalence of poverty and hunger has reached epic proportions. In 2000, Global leaders called for international cooperation in diminishing extreme poverty and hunger as the number one priority.

In measuring the incidence of these issues globally, Sub-Saharan Africa ranks first in several categories:

  • First in the highest percentage of people living on less than $1.25 per day
  • First with the highest proportion of an overall undernourished population
  • First with the highest proportion of children under age five who are underweight.

Additionally, Sub-Saharan Africa ranks fourth in the employment-to-population ratio.

The great needs of this region of the world have demanded intervention.OneEgg.org is an initiative that uses a unique collaboration of workforce development and charitable giving to address the concerns of extreme poverty and hunger in Sub-Africa.

Our solution for addressing the issues of hunger and poverty is a comprehensive approach where we unite with state side partners, local businesses, and various churches and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in an comprehensive apporach that creates jobs, empowers nationals and provides protein to malnourished children.

About Sketch

When a hen house is built it creates jobs in the areas of construction, business, farming, transportation and animal care. Stateside partners provide skill training for each of these jobs, as each job is carried out egg production begins. Approximately half of all eggs are sent to local markets to provide affordable sources of protein and produce income.

The remaining eggs are designated to be purchased by OneEgg sponsors to be distributed at OneEgg sites. As official OneEgg sites. These sites ,which include schools, orphanages, hospital wards, and daycare centers receive eggs to supplement current feeding programs that supply needed protein for malnourished children.

The key to the entire model is sponsorship. This sponsorship makes possible the delivery of protein to a malnourished child and doubles the demand for eggs, in turn doubling the nunber of jobs and the nunber of people no able to afford to buy eggs for their children.
